Scream Therapy

It is 2:11 PM Sunday afternoon. It is a cold sunny day. It feels like late Autumn today. We are coming to the end of Spring 2020. Tomorrow will be the first day of June 2020. Will America be in ashes when we comes to the end of June 2020. Will we be in a Racial Civil War as we enter the Summer 2020? White’s against Black’s killing each other in front of the White House Washington D.C..

I got up this morning around 7:15 AM. Carol was already up when I got up to face another day. There is no way of escape. This morning when I got up I can’t right now recall what I did. All is a blank presently. I do remember Carol going downtown this morning and getting Sunday morning newspapers. One of the Sunday newspapers was a New York Times. I have been looking through the Sunday New York Times newspaper off and on today.

This afternoon I have been reading from these books, ‘Beatlebone’ a novel by Kevin Barry, ‘The Unfortunate Traveller And Other Works’ by Thomas Nashe and ‘The Sot-Weed Factor’ a novel by John Barth. Right now Carol is taking a nap. I do not know what time she got up today. This is her last week to work, then is retired. We drift into being old and waiting for extinction.

Last night I mainly read, ‘Beatlebone’ a novel by Kevin Barry. While Carol was having face time on her cell phone with Josiah and Marika I filmed a video for my Youtube channel.

I wrote a couple of pages in my May 2020 paper diary today. The day goes by. I will close to doze. There is nothing.

loving God and our neighbor

It is 12:19 PM Saturday afternoon. It is slightly warm sunny day. It is the type of weather one has to wear a light coat or a sweat shirt.

Carol got up this morning around 4:50 AM and I got up got around 6:30 AM. I spent the morning doing the usual activities. I messed with our main computer, wrote in my paper diary, and read from these books till Noontime, ‘Unity And Continuity In Covenant Thought: A Study in the Reformed Tradition to the Westminster Assembly’ by Andrew A. Woolsey and ‘Reformed Ethics: Created, Fallen, And Converted Humanity’ Volume One by Herman Bavinck.

Carol went grocery shopping this morning. While she was gone I read my books and wrote in my paper diary. Late this morning we once again bought take out food from a fellow down the street Catering by Orlando & Co. for our afternoon meal. Orlando is married to one of Carol’s cousin’s.

We are now in the afternoon hours. I usually read these books during the afternoon and evening hours, ‘Building The Great Society: Inside Lyndon Johnson’s White House’ by Joshua Zeitz and ‘Before The Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus’ by Rick Perlstein.

Last night I read ‘Before The Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus’ by Rick Perlstein and ‘Unity And Continuity In Covenant Thought: A Study in the Reformed Tradition to the Westminster Assembly’ by Andrew A. Woolsey. I went to bed around 10:45 PM but could not fall asleep so I got up and read till 11:35 PM. Now it is another day during a world wide COVID-19 Pandemic.

Carol is doing stuff around the house. Her last day to work is June 7th and then she is fully retired from work.

Well I suppose I will close to drift through this day. There is no way of escape.

I Can’t Breath!

It is 12:52 PM Friday afternoon here in the Plague Zone. Right now the sun is shining. This morning when we got up it was gray and cold.

I am falling asleep as I type these words so I better get to the point before I collapse. We got up this morning around 6:30 AM. It is blessing to wake up to a house not under water.

So we got up to face the last Friday of May 2020. We had a usual morning. Emily dropped off the girls this morning. Josie is still here with us. Emily picked up Cora after she did errands.

I have done the usual things this morning like writing in my paper diary and reading my books. I did not go anywhere this morning. We are still in lock down here in West Michigan. We have noticed more traffic on our street, so people are on the move. I hope people realize we are still in danger of getting this deadly virus and dying. People are trying to believe things have gone back to normal, when they haven’t. People are still dying from this plague all over the world. Over a 100,000 people have died alone in the United States. I suppose people in general want to block out the reality of death. After we die we either go to Heaven or Hell.

Carol and Josie just left to go for a walk. I have been reading this afternoon from a novel titled, ‘Nocilla Dream’ by Agustin Fernandez Mallo Translated From The Spanish By Thomas Bunstead.

Well there is not much else to report in this plague infested world. All we can do is stay in place and wear a death mask.

For lo! the Lord’s great day is near

It is 10:50 AM Thursday morning. It is warm humid gray morning. It is predicted to rain today.

I got up this morning around 7 o’clock AM. I got up and messed with our main computer. While messing with our main computer I ate a bowl of cereal. After breakfast I wrote in my paper diary and have been reading this morning from Volume 10 of ‘The Works Of William Perkins’. Carol got home from work around 8:35 AM and went to bed around 10 o’clock AM. She is now off from work a couple nights. She now has only four shifts left to work before retirement. Carol has been emptying her locker at work and bring stuff home. Some of that stuff that was in her locker is over twenty years old. Time to move on. Next comes the grave. Our days are quickly over and then Eternity.

Last night I made a video and read mainly from a book titled, ‘Building The Great Society: Inside Lyndon Johnson’s White House’ by Joshua Zeitz. Carol got up to get ready for work around 10 o’clock PM. She left for work around 11:45 PM and I went to bed soon after she left. Once again I slept poorly. Now it is another day during this horrible Coronavirus Pandemic. Everyday thousands are dying from this virus COVID-19. It is scary seeing millions of people ignoring social distancing and not wearing masks! People should be afraid of death and not take it lightly. Once one is dead there is no more opportunities to repent and believe the Gospel.

I am thinking of mowing the lawn before it starts raining. Get this chore off my brain. Not much else to report so I will close to drift through another day.

he day, the dreadful day draws nigh,
When God in judgment shall appear,
Shall by His laws His people try,
And prove with scrutiny severe
The sinners settled on their lees,
And punish all that dwell at ease.

The men whose hearts deny His love,
His guardian love and righteous sway,
Who say Secure He sits above,
And lets us each pursue our way,
Nor will He e’er our deeds regard,
Or punish mortals, or reward.

On these the Lord His wrath shall show,
And give them to the Waster’s power,
Stir up the fierce invading foe,
Their goods and houses to devour:
Houses they shall for others build,
And sow, but never reap the field.

For lo! the Lord’s great day is near,
Is near, and swiftly hastens on;
The mighty men shall cry for fear
And anguish while His wrath comes down,
While God the sacred panic darts
And speaks in thunder to their hearts.

Who can that awful day declare?
A day of trouble and distress,
A day of raging, wasteful war,
Of darkness, clouds and gloominess,
A day to join th’embattled powers,
And storm the forts, and shake the towers.

naked reliance on the work of Christ

It is 11:04 AM Wednesday morning here in West Michigan. It is another hot and humid day. We still have the house closed up and the central air system working to keep the house from getting overheated.

I got up this morning around 6:45 AM. I have spent the morning doing what I do every morning. Carol got home late from work, because after work she went to our local Farmer’s Market.

I have been reading this morning for devotions from a book titled, ‘Soul Recreation-The Contemplative-Mystical Piety of Puritanism’ by Tom Schwanda.

I plan to do nothing today. We are still under orders from our Governor to stay home during this world wide Coronavirus Pandemic.

Last night I read from Volume 10 of ‘The Works of William Perkins'(which came in the mail yesterday). I watched also last night a three part series on the History Channel on General and President Ulysses S. Grant. I went to bed around 11:35 PM. Now it is another day.

I will close to drift into the afternoon hours.

the Holy Spirit creates a robust sense of enjoyment of Christ

It is 12:55 PM Tuesday afternoon. It is hot and humid today. I think Carol told me it was 86 degrees today. I have not been outside today, we have the central air system on so the house is at 72 degrees. We also have all the window shades down so the house is dark inside. Due to the cool house and the shades down all I want to do is doze. I keep finding myself falling asleep today.

I got up this morning around 6:05 AM. I got up found Carol in her usual spot reading her Bible and drinking coffee. I got myself a small glass of ice water and sat in my easy chair seeking to wake up. I sat for awhile and then decided to mess with our main computer. I wanted to find out the reaction to my last video. Last night before going to bed I filmed a video wherein I expressed my thoughts on the recent videos in Booktube that expressed a denial of the existence of God. Someone has to stand up for the Lord Jesus is this culture of death.

After messing with our main computer I got a cup of coffee and then wrote in my paper diary. I wrote in my diary and then spent the morning reading from these books when not falling asleep, ‘Soul Recreation: The Contemplative-Mystical Piety of Puritanism’ by Tom Schwanda and ‘Reformed Ethics: Created, Fallen, And Converted Humanity’ Volume One by Herman Bavinck.

Carol just went to bed to sleep. She works tonight and tomorrow night. She has only six shifts to work and she is done with working the rest of her life. Her last day of work is June 6, 2020.

Last night Carol went to bed early and I stayed up and messed with with our main computer and filmed a video for my Youtube channel.

This afternoon I have been reading off and on from a book titled, ‘Before The Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus’ by Rick Perlstein.

Carol and I did go down the street yesterday afternoon to have hamburgers with our oldest son and his family.

Well I will close to feel like a sack of potatoes.

shed over the world Thy holy light

It is 12:44 PM Monday afternoon. It is a hot sunny day. Last night due to the extreme heat we shut up the house and turned on our central air system. It is now 72 degrees inside the house.

It has been a normal day thus far. I got up around 6:15 AM. Carol was already up when I got up. Carol goes to bed early and gets up early. Last night we did go to bed around the same time though. So I got up got a glass of cold water wandered into our living room sat in my big chair and slowly woke up to another day. After I woke up I asked Carol if she had breakfast yet? Yes she had already eaten so I decided for my morning meal I would have a bowl of cereal. After breakfast I messed with our main computer and then wrote in my paper diary. Next I spent the morning reading from a book titled, ‘Soul Recreation: The Contemplative-Mystical Piety of Puritanism’ by Tom Schwanda. I read this book till 12:01 PM. Now I am writing in my online diaries. Carol and I will go down the street this afternoon to have a meal with our oldest son and his family. I am told this is a national holy day today.

There is not much else to report presently. Existence keeps speeding by! I have also been reading today, ‘Looking Unto Jesus’ by Issac Ambrose.

Last night I mainly read ‘Soul Recreation’ by Schwanda till 10:30 PM. I then went to bed with my wife of 41 years.

Well, I suppose I will close to drift till we leave to go over to Caleb and Emily’s/Cora and Josie plus their little dog Ollie.

Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts,
Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men,
From the best bliss that earth imparts,
We turn unfilled to Thee again.

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
To them that seek Thee Thou art good,
To them that find Thee all in all.

We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still;
We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead,
And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
Wherever our changeful lot is cast;
Glad when Thy gracious smile we see,
Blessed when our faith can hold Thee fast.

O Jesus, ever with us stay,
Make all our moments calm and bright;
Chase the dark night of sin away,
Shed over the world Thy holy light.

glorification of self

It is 11:46 AM late Sunday morning. It is a warm sunny late Spring day. Next Sunday will be the last day of May 2020. We will be in the month of June 2020. This year is zooming by. Carol retires from work fully June 6. The end of June all our kids will be here for a visit with their families.

I got up this morning around 6:35 AM. Carol had gotten up this morning around 4 o’clock AM. She went to bed early last night. I stayed up late and read my books. I read last night from these books, ‘Freak Kingdom’ by Timothy Denevi and ‘Before The Storm’ by Rick Perlstein.

This morning I mainly wrote in my paper diary and read from these two books, ‘The Works of William Perkins’ Volume 9 and ‘Reformed Ethics: Created, Fallen, And Converted Humanity’ Volume 1 by Herman Bavinck.

I have no plans for the rest of the day. If Carol takes a nap I might go down into the lower level and lay down. I did not sleep soundly last night, because our bedroom was very hot.

Well I suppose I will close to drift. Tomorrow is a national holy day, so there is no mail. Carol and I are going down the street tomorrow to have hamburgers with our oldest son’s family. Maybe next month will be better. Thrift stores open up this coming Tuesday. Carol got her hair cut yesterday. Life is moving along.

the Word creates its own hearers

It is 2:07 PM Saturday afternoon on a humid sunny cloudy day. The day keeps decaying as we go through this world wide Coronavirus Pandemic.

I got up this morning around 6:35 AM. When I got up Carol was moving around the kitchen. I sat in our living room seeking to slowly wake up to another day during this awful plague. I did find out this afternoon that Salvation Army is opening up next Tuesday at a 11 o’clock AM. So things are opening up slowly throughout West Michigan. When I woke up I got a cup of coffee and ate breakfast. After breakfast I messed with our main computer and then wrote in my paper diary.

I think this morning Carol left to do errands. I do not remember right now where Carol was this morning. She was able to get her hair cut this afternoon, which pleased her. I need a haircut but I am an old Freak so it does not matter if what little hair I have left on my head remains. I am headed for the grave anyway and hair means nothing when your dead.

I did make two short videos this morning while Carol was off doing stuff. I read this morning from a book titled, ‘Looking Unto Jesus’ by Issac Ambrose. Nothing came in the mail to bring a swift stop the spread of this deadly plague.

Last night Carol went to bed early and I stayed up late reading from a book titled, ‘Before The Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus’ by Rick Perlstein.

Not much else to report this afternoon. This morning Carol bought me a huge sunflower plant that I plan to plant in my wildflower garden soon. Carol went to our local Farmer’s Market to buy flower pails to place on her parent’s grave and also one of her Aunt’s and Uncle’s graves. Carol and I plan to have a green burial when the Lord takes us home/gloryland. We want folks to plant flowers on our graves.

Well I will close. I have been reading this afternoon William Perkins on repentance in Volume 9 THE WORKS OF WILLIAM PERKINS.

the Word is mightier than the world

It is 1:50 PM Friday afternoon. A cloudy overcast day. It feels like it could rain.

It has been a normal day. I got up this morning around 6:15 AM. I woke up feeling groggy. Carol was on our main computer when I got up. I sat for awhile seeking to wake and then I messed with our main computer. After messing with our main computer I wrote in my paper diary and read for morning devotions from a book titled, ‘Seeing By The Light: Illumination in Augustine’s and Barth’s Reading of John’ by Ike Miller. I also read this morning from a Puritan classic titled, ‘Looking Unto Jesus’ by Issac Ambrose.

Carol left this morning to go grocery shopping. When she got back I was still reading my books. Later I worked outside preparing a small portion of ground in our backyard where I plant wildflower seeds. I planted the seeds and now we will see what blooms. The last couple of years different flowers have bloomed, so we will see if anything different appears. I helped Carol trimmed a big bush rubbing against the back of our house. So went the morning hours.

This afternoon when not fighting to stay awake I have been reading from a book titled,’Before The Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus’ by Rick Perlstein. I have really been enjoying reading this book, ‘Before The Storm’. I look forward to reading these other volumes by Rick Perlstein, ‘Nixonland: The Rise Of A President And The Fracturing Of America’, and ‘The Invisible Bridge: The Fall Of Nixon And The Rise Of Reagan’. I have already pre-ordered the fourth volume in this series titled, ‘Reaganland: America’s Right Turn 1976-1980’. Rick Perlstein is a fine writer of American Political History. I highly recommend all Perlstein’s books.  Reading Perlstein makes me see with clearer light what is going on now in American Politics/the age of Trump.

Last night I read ‘Before The Storm’ and ‘Freak Kingdom: Hunter S. Thompson’s Manic Ten-Year Crusade Against American Fascism’ by Timothy Denevi.

Carol went to bed early and I stayed up and read late into the night. So this day goes by in a blur. Right now Carol is sleeping and I am writing in my online diaries. I will close to feel wasted. There is no way of escape. The world has gone nuts.
